** The preferential origin **
Preferential origin is a conventional origin, defined through criteria contained in the agreements between the EU and countries or groups of countries, with the one and only purpose of obtaining preferential duty treatment (reduced or zero duty) reciprocal exchanges.

Specifically, each agreement contains lists of sufficient processing, that set the threshold for the granting of preferential origin, and processing that are insufficient for this purpose. Precondition for the acquisition of preferential origin is territorial continuity, i.e. that all operations are carried out in the countries with which the EU has an agreement.
